We've discovered the bug which was causing the tracking numbers not to show on the order status pages. It appears one of the Goreboar's fleas mutated and somehow got into our electrical system, thus causing the error. The problem has been fixed and you will once again be able to get the tracking number from your order status page. Of corpse you will also receive an email with the tracking number when your item ships as always.

Here's wishing a very happy birthday to our President and Co-founder, Mr. William Nocera.

GRUESOME STUFF RELISH CD REVIEW FROM UNHOLYCULT.COM!

Gruesome Stuff Relish - Horror Rises From The Tomb
(Album of the Week 4-6-13-2008)

I hold Razorback Records to a different standard of musical quality, but this is their fault. The reason is that they have put out exceptional albums in a fusion of sounds that hearken to 1991 Grindcore while retaining modernity. Just listen to bands like Blood Freak, Coffins, Lord Gore, Crypticus, Frightmare, Gigantic Brain, Engorged, Machetazo, and Embalming Theatre, for proof. Hell, even their Impetigo reissues are mandatory. A Razorback Release is almost as sick as the New York Yankees management scoring another key free agent for their championship potential roster (The difference is that them dirty Yanks are jinxed and Razorback Records ain’t.) Therefore, when I got the latest from Gruesome Stuff Relish, ‘Horror Rises From The Tomb’, I knew it was gonna be great.

The moment I opened ‘Horror Rises From The Tomb’ my nostrils were flooded with the scent of fetid butter popcorn and rotting human flesh worked by maggots sewing catalyst. The vivid cover art and back panel reflect the lyrics and music whether it is a song about zombies (“The Dead Will Walk The Earth”), or a tribe of hungry cannibals (“Fullmoon Ritual”). Heh, but I know eager readers yearn for this reviews succulent meat so a discussion on the music of Gruesome Stuff Relish is in nourishing order.

The most noticeable aspect of ‘Horror Rises From The Tomb’ is that the splatter heard on ‘Teenage Giallo Grind’ has been toned down a tad. As a result, the band sounds less like Carcass, but this subtle shift should already be familiar if you own ‘Split Your Guts Vol.’ Groovy riffs are more prominent with energetic bass driven beats and blasts giving the band a dose of Repulsion. Sleazy vibrato stroking solos leave sinister slasher echoes ricocheting in your brain. Walloping distorted bumblebee buzzing guitar riffs spill out of each song like the lengthy intestines of beautifully gutted cunt. Harmony leads and licks spiral in quirky electronic jolts, as if listeners are licking the tip of a 9-volt battery. Vocals are raspy gargles broken by flu phlegm gurgles, but lyrics are mostly discernible. This means fans will get cool lines like “blow their heads, chop their heads” stuck in their bong resin soaked minds.

Perhaps I am a little too old school for my own good, but I like hearing a band transition from demos, to Splits, maybe an EP, and eventually into a full-length album. The reason is that it is an outstanding method for hearing the evolution of a band as they hone their musical abilities, style, and overall sound (Unfortunately, MP3’s and My Space (Demo Space for dummies) seem to have rendered demos obsolete.). Gruesome Stuff Relish does not altogether fit this template, but add their work in Repugnance to the stew, and they come damn close. Consequently, Gruesome Stuff Relish is band that has significantly progressed with each release to have a sound and atmosphere soaked in the fearful stench of sweat dripping off the body of a child watching zombie’s gorge on his living parents flesh. They are the embodiment of the splendid synthesis of horror flicks and Metal spawned into a musical output featuring the finer elements of Impetigo, Repulsion, and Carcass. Now, get out your handy-fucking-dandy credit card or ca$h stolen from mamma's purse, cause you do not want to be the only person in the world without ‘Horror Rises From The Tomb.’

Razorback Records is proud and excited to announce the formation of the new band, BEWARE!

This band is the brainchild of Billy Nocera from Razorback Records, who asked his friends Noel and Pablo from GRUESOME STUFF RELISH, Stevo from IMPETIGO, and Kam Lee from DENIAL FIEND and MASSACRE if they wanted to do a new band that was an "homage" to the classic horror comics and films from the 50's, 60's, and early 70's such as Tales From The Crypt, Creepy, Witches Tales, Nightmare, as well as films from the mighty Amicus Studios and other gems of the past. Musically, they all decided that pure 80's and early 90's Death Metal was the only way to go, taking inspiration from bands such as ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, GRAVE, MASSACRE, etc.

This special entity is the "dream line-up" for us, as the vocalists are none other than the mighty Stevo from IMPETIGO and the tyrant Kam Lee from MASSACRE and DENIAL FIEND, two of our all-time FAVORITE death metal vocalists EVER!! This deadly-duo teaming up will be legendary and we are absolutely thrilled to be working with such great people. Not only are they incredibly talented and powerful vocalists, but they are also extremely cool and down to earth people with NO rock star attitudes whatsoever. They are also our friends, and we couldn't be working with better people than Stevo and Kam Lee. These guys are truly passionate about the horror genre and the GOOD stuff that makes metal worth doing, so we just know that something really special and amazing will come from this diabolical team-up!

10 songs are being written for the debut album, which is to be titled "NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH", to be released on Razorback Records in the coming year! The album will have songs such as "Name Your Poison", "Chupamacabre - The Ghastly-Sucker", "A Bone To Pick", "Roast of the Town", and more, with lyrics written by Stevo and Kam Lee! A demo with some rough tracks will be unleashed in the weeks ahead to give you a small taste of what's to come!

Here's some words from the FIENDS themselves...

Pablo and Noel...
I still remember the first time I put my hands on albums like Ultimo Mondo Cannibale and From Beyond. It was the early nineties and I was a teenage bonehead with nothing else in mind than trying to learn how to blast my drum set and emulate such bands as Impetigo and Massacre. We can't describe how excited we feel right now 18 years later having the chance of being in a band with Kam Lee and Stevo do Caixao!

Stevo...
From the depths of the dungeon, emerges Stevo do Caixao as co-lead vocalist of BEWARE. Stevo's claim to fame as a member of IMPETIGO is well known; his newest project CONVULSIONS while off to a slow start is beginning to gather momentum. For the special project BEWARE, Stevo finds himself sharing creative forces with heavy-hitters in the true underground circle. "Working with my blood brother Billy Nocera on a creative level is an honor and privelege unto itself...but to share the creative process with Kam Lee, a good friend and true influence of mine since the beginning is truly adding a sinister smile to my horrible face! On top of that, working with the fellas in GRUESOME STUFF RELISH is a treat that can't be beat; they have been, bar none, among the best of the best that the past few years has had to offer the true underground!! Their fantastic attitude and delightfully mesozoic approach to the genre is refreshing and rounds off a very formida ble cast of creative characters for BEWARE!"

Kam Lee...
BEWARE!!! Everything you fear and everything that dwells within the dark places of the world now walks among us... BEWARE, BEWARE - you have been warned!
I'm excited to be a part of BEWARE, because this is giving me the chance to work side by side with Stevo of IMPETIGO and Billy of RAZORBACK RECORDS as well with the great musicians from GRUESOME STUFF RELISH on something we together feel is an extension of our very own personalities. Our collective adoration for those old EC comics like TALES FROM THE CRYPT and THE VAULT OF HORROR and THE HAUNT OF FEAR. And mixing in our adoration of old British Horror films, our creepy crawly love for creatures, and just great classic horror moments through out our collective history. This is a special treat for me, because this is what the 'true underground death metal scene' is meant to be... a brotherhood of liked mind individuals pulling together to create something that is both exciting and entertaining for the simple fun it it!

More news will come as soon as we have it! So...BEWARE!

F.K.U.
"Metal Moshing Mad" CD
Razorback Records 2007
Review from teufelstomb.com

And here we got with the latest release on the venerable Razorback label. From the get-go, it's fairly evident that we are listening to some cross-over era thrash along the likes of Anthrax, Agent Steel or perhaps Nuclear Assault. This is basically one rippin' underwear wreckin' beer fueled thrash metal assault. Metal Moshing Mad is a remastered version of the bands' '99 debut, gussied up for the prom with a fresh coat of paint courtesy of comic book jerk Adam Geyer.

Those who like their guitars crunchy and loud along the lines of D.R.I.'s 4 of a Kind should get a kick out of this, while not getting lost in slick production that would mar later D.R.I. records, Thrash Zone being the bands' biggest thorn in my side.

I have always found that its' the singers who make it sound easy that make the most impact for me in this genre. I begin to begin to bang my head when a frontman who knows his place is able to bridge the speed and brutality of a song with a need for it to be catchy just enough to get a good circle pit going strong. Obviously dynamic singer and thrash sensation Larry Lethal has learned from masters like Rob Urbinati from Sacrifice. Throughout this release, we get to hear all kinds of great things, high piched screeches, random coughing, evil laughs and complete command of choruses full of catchy back up vocals galore.

I have yet to buy into the recent crop of nu-thrash bands that are emerging faster than the contact dermatitis that has suddenly begun appearing on my arms. I tend to sniff in disinterest at most new bands playing this style, but for what it's worth, F.K.Ü. put some legs to a relatively dried up time in history with pleasing results.

As an added bonus, Metal Moshing Mad comes complete with the band's Beware Evil Underwear demo. The band still manages to hold their own, proving that a lot of the power of the studio work can still be found in a much rawer recording environment. Indeed on the demo, the band hypes up their love for the Nightmare on Elm Street series between mad blasts of thrash.

I'm also going to give the band credit for their seven second opus "Beware! Part 2". I approve.

ANIMA MORTE
"Face the Sea of Darkness" CD
Dead Beat Media 2007
Review from Unholycult.com

http://www.unholycult.com/Anima_Morte.html

(Album of the Week 1-7-14-2008)

Those of you that routinely go to the music section to listen to a few song samples while reading the album of the week review are probably a tad shocked to hear Anima Morte, a band not playing Metal. But those that are aficionados for Italian horror flicks featuring tasty cannibalism, yellow-jacketed pulp fiction turned cinematic Giallo by influence of Dario Argento, or zombies rising from a tub drained of its brackish water will not be surprised to hear 'Face the Sea of Darkness,' an album inspired by the musical arrangements found in those types of films.

Anima Morte isn't music meant to be pigeon holed, in that it is filled with a convoluted substance that belies the slasher flick ambiance. In other words, the instrumentals found on 'Face the Sea of Darkness' can be appreciated by all listeners just on the basis of inventive diversity. Most exceptional is the bands ability to create a simple melodic riff that seemingly blankets the 70's progressive rock complexity. Flashes of jazz piano slither in minutia, electric guitar is brilliantly distorted enough to convey gigantic heavy notes, acoustic guitar is portentously heart wrenching, and bass is beautifully prominent with a timely funky dynamism or contemplative lurch that matches the drums in ghostly movements. Choral passages are eerie and songs have powerful hooks that present a level of musical anxiety, like watching a killer stalk prey.

The overall use of keyboards (It would surprise me to learn they are using organ, piano, Mellotron, and Moog synthesizer) is extraordinary in its ability to express suffering or dramatic seconds of tragedy musically in much the same fashion as hypnotic cinematography trailing blood garishly spotting a marbled floor. Other passages in songs have the keyboards weaving an almost mawkish 70's disco psychedelia balanced against a progressive rock vibe, which creates a mysteriously thrilling aura. Most awesome is that massive organ, whose keys are hammered and seemingly held down in deliciously dexterous moments of climax, like watching a murderer stab a victim through a sultry white dress.

'Face the Sea of Darkness' is a CD embodying a smattering of Goblin with Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and a hint of progressive era Genesis to create Anima Morte, a band ingeniously capable of crafting music that is spooky and thought provoking. Moreover, the smart people at Dead Beat Media have essentially fused forward thinking with a glimmer of retrospective by putting out Anima Morte, for this is music that hearkens to the 70's and 80's where the art of film was bound in equilibrium to music's ability to create tension, terror, drama, and pathos. Unfortunately, seeing most of today's rehashed lowbrow horror films is like watching a sports highlight reel featuring beautiful teenagers splattered by killers while Nu-Metal or Metalcore dubiously jams in the background.

Being a horror film fan is not necessary for listeners to enjoy or even love 'Face the Sea of Darkness.' The music is brilliantly retro but intoxicatingly modern. Arrangements are near genius, and the production is stellar thereby enhancing the suggestion of supernatural homicide. The mix is robust in that it gives all the instruments their cohesive space. But best of all is the fact that Anima Morte is band whose music is layered with enough complexity that it never grows tiresome to hear. Despite its late 2007 release date, 'Face the Sea of Darkness' is certainly one of the best recordings of the year past, but the reality is that its sheer brilliance is timeless.

STATE OF THE GOREBOAR ADDRESS
It's been a long time since I wrote a newsletter, but with so much coming up I felt this was the right time! 2007 is coming to a close and it's time to prepare for 2008, which is going to be the most BUSY year EVER for this label! It is also going to be Razorback's 10 year anniversary as well, so there's LOTS to discuss!

GRUESOME STUFF RELISH is finishing up on their 2nd album, "Horror Rises From The Tomb". This is going to be our first release for 2008, and from the few tracks I've heard it's definitely their best material ever! I've been wanting to do a second album with this band for a long time and I'm glad they returned to deliver the gory goods! The artwork alone by Jeff Zornow is amazing. The album is about to get mastered in Germany and once we have everything we'll be sending it to press!

CRYPTICUS has completed 7 songs for their 2nd album for Razorback, titled "They Called Me Mad". There's only 6 more songs left to complete and then it will be finished and ready for pressing! This album is going to be a totally dark, masterpiece of true horror Death Metal that will finally put this band on the map once and for all. Working with this band has been so much fun as Patrick is totally into what Razorback is all about and really lives for the horror genre and REAL death fucking metal music! The cover artwork by Allen K. is awesome and the booklet will have even more art from him!

CIANIDE's 3rd album from 1998, "Death, Doom and Destruction" is being re-issued by Razorback and we're thrilled to be doing this! I've been a fan of this band since 1991. They're one of the few bands that never gave up on playing killer, pure death metal and get heavier and more intense on every album they do. Seeing them live at the Impetigo reunion show this past summer was UNREAL....truly the HEAVIEST death metal band ever! The album is being re-mastered by Patrick Bruss from Crypticus. If you heard the work he did on the Impetigo re-issues than you know this is gonna sound HEAVIER than ever before! Also, the insane Putrid is currently working on the cover artwork for this which is going to blow everybody away!

BLOOD FREAK is working extremely hard on their 4th album for Razorback, titled "Scared Stiff". This is going to be the most extreme BLOOD FREAK album ever. More death metal, more grind, and more doom than ever before. The album is going to be recorded at an analog studio in the first few months of 2008. Ed Repka is currently working on the cover painting which is going to be incredible! The band is also currently preparing for their first live show in January, and they're also planning a West Coast tour after the release of the new album! They will play in California, Arizona, Colorado, and possibly some other states as well. We'll post more news about this when we have it. Look out everybody, BLOOD FREAK is coming to KILL! Also, Morbid Reality Records is going to be releasing the BLOOD FREAK albums on vinyl LP! The first album "Sleaze Merchants" will be first! More info on that soon as well.

VACANT COFFIN from Finland is new to Razorback, but lead guitar/vocalist Lasse is no stranger to the underground! One of the founding members of the early 90's cult death metal band Phlegethon, Lasse has been working extremely hard on the debut VACANT COFFIN album to be titled "Sewer Skullpture" which is going to be one hell of a killer debut album! This band is bringing back the great oldschool Death Metal/Grind sound that bands from Finland used to be famous(or infamous!) for! Down-tuned, heavy, fast, with those killer shredding riffs that send shivers down your spine! The artwork is being done by the wicked Wes from Australia and is going to be a horror/gore fan's delight!

EVISCERATED from Sweden is also new to Razorback Records. The band plays pure oldschool Swedish Death Metal with a total horror influence! These fiends are obsessed with the classic European horror films from the glory days and have incorporated that into their diabolic sound. We're absolutely thrilled to be working with them. They're currently preparing their debut 7" EP release so really soon you'll be able to hear new material from them and what this band is capable of. The album will be recorded sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2008 for a Fall release.

HOODED MENACE, the Doom/Death Metal band that features Lasse from Phlegethon/Vacant Coffin, is another new band on Razorback Records. The band is writing 8 songs for their debut album on Razorback to be titled "Fulfill the Curse" which will be released sometime in 2008. The Blind Dead Templars will rise once again and sacrifice young virgins to Satan when this album is unleashed! This will be one of the most incredible debut doom albums ever. The artwork will be drawn by the horror master, Putrid! This is a band that was meant to be on Razorback Records! Beware!

FONDLECORPSE is still writing material for their long awaited debut album, "Creaturegore". The band was recently featured on the short horror film, FLUSH! They also have a new t-shirt available from Warlord Clothing (http://www.warlordclothing.com/). The Couch-Potato Gore Army will rise to crush in 2008! More news and updates from the band soon.

FRIGHTMARE is currently on hold as Maniac Neil is completely busy with Blood Freak. There will be a 3rd album, but not until at least 2009. The band has 2 new t-shirts available from Warlod Clothing as well! Check them out!

CONVULSIONS.....is not dead. More news when I have it!

As for our 10th year anniversary plans....we will keep that a surprise! You never know what the old Goreboar will do next, so just keep looking for updates and other surprises in the weeks and months to come! We have something very special planned, but we're not yet ready to announce it. We'll also be repressing lots more out of print titles as well in 2008. We'll announce those more up ahead.

On a final note, I just want to really thank all the cool freaks who have supported this label for so long and never gave up on us. When we first started this label we never knew exactly who out there was going to be interested in our vision of what we wanted extreme metal to be, but we're glad to know we weren't alone! This label has always been dedicated to our love for the horror genre and the classic metal we grew up with. It's never been about trends or trying to fit in with the latest fad of the month. Look for a stronger and more focused Razorback Records in 2008...and beyond!

NEW REVIEW OF ANIMA MORTE ALBUM!

ANIMA MORTE
"Face the Sea of Darkness" CD
Dead Beat Media 2007
Review from http://www.metalteamuk.net

“And you will face a Sea of Darkness, and all therein that may be explored.” So ends the ultimate Lucio Fulci movie L’Aldilà, aka The Beyond. If you have not seen the movie you may as well be dead, rectify at the 1st possible opportunity. “So what has this to do with the debut album by Anima Morte,” you may well ask? Well everything is the simple answer. These Swedes first grabbed my attention with their ‘Viva Morte’ single early this year, which was in a nutshell a homage to the music of the Italian horror films of the 70s’ and 80s’, specifically those that dealt with zombies, cannibals and the violent crime Giallos.

Anima Morte have followed things up with their debut album which is the first release from Dead Beat Media who are a subsidiary of the Razorback hive. This should certainly have you in no doubt that it is a project that comes bloodthirstily approved as the people behind that label certainly know a good gore score when they hear one.

In perspective though, you do not have to be a splatter aficionado to appreciate this. The creepy musical constructions are purely instrumental and rely heavily on the progressive rock structures of the likes of Goblin who are widely respected as the innovators of the genre (read the Claudio Simonetti interview here for more information).

Indeed the nail is hit well and truly into the head here as ‘He Who Dwells In Darkness’ illustrates. There is a maudlin and dismal air of futility and hopelessness running through the downbeat melody here, one that really is reminiscent of Riz Ortolani’s main theme from Cannibal Holocaust. The track is however bolstered by cascading keys with a real 70s’ flavour about them and the more forceful Goblinesque bombast behind the numbers driving force.

‘Rise Again’ has that ghostly chanting choral behind it that summons images of skeletal hands thrusting out of decayed earth to grab the ankle of the unsuspecting (and incessantly screaming) soon to be dismembered victim. The prog laden flurries race ever forward, on to deaths delirium expelling one hell of a hook laden rhythm, which will take you over like a zombie flesh wound. ‘Devoid Of a Soul’ is a feast that will have beards stroked and the likes of King Crimson and ELP mentioned with fond reminiscence.

Knowing when to inject a sense of pathos into the mix we are presented with ‘Wandering’ which does just that in tribute to the likes of Ennio Morricone as an intrepid doomed investigator finds themselves hopelessly lost in a labyrinth of despair. Whilst the musicianship here is oft complex the themes are in essence simple and compelling and this is why things work so well. I could certainly envisage Anima Morte actually taking things to the next level and scoring an Italian movie like those from the font they worship. Unfortunately there are so few genre survivors, Argento is the exception, Deodata is still alive and there is always Lamberto Bava and it’s high time Michele Soavi made another movie so who knows, they may get a chance. In the meantime if you are looking for some vintage blood, the well overfloweth, drink deep.

A new song entitled "THE SHUNNED HOUSE" from the upcoming album "THEY CALLED ME MAD" has been added to the page. It's based on the H.P. Lovecraft story, which was in-turn based on
the historic Harris House in Rhode Island. This track was co-written with Justin from BECOMING THE ENEMY, & is a pretty good example of the kind of weirdness that's to come!

RAZORBACK TO REISSUE CIANIDE CD!
Razorback Records is proud and honored to announce that we'll be doing a special re-issue of CIANIDE's "Death, Doom and Destruction" CD! This is the band's 3rd album originally released in 1997. It has been long since out of print and is a true gem of pure underground, no bullshit DEATH METAL from a band that has never given up and still continues to crush 20 years after they were born. The re-issue will include "The Truth" 7" EP release from 1998 as bonus tracks, liner notes, photos, and will be remastered by Patrick Bruss from Crypticus who recently remastered the Impetigo re-issues on Razorback so expect some really killer sound! The release will have brand new cover art along with the original cover inside for the die hard purists.

CIANIDE is what DEATH METAL is all about!

PURE HORROR DEATH METAL FROM THE BOWELS OF HELL!
Razorback Records is proud to announce that we'll be releasing a full-length CD from the Swedish Death Metal horde known as EVISCERATED in 2008! This is death metal the way death metal SHOULD be with the added bonus of their extreme and enthusiastic worship for the cult European horror cinema of such legends as Paul Naschy, Sergio Martino, Armando de Ossorio, Leon Klimovsky, and more! Get ready for graveyards to be desecrated, rabid werewolves ravishing bloody naked breasts, pentagram daggers jammed in your heart, and pissed off black robed zombies sacrificing your eternal soul!!!

Check out the band's official web site here.

RAZORBACK PRESENTS: DEAD BEAT MEDIA!
Dead Beat Media is a new underground label run by the fiends from horror metal label Razorback Records. For almost 10 years Razorback has been releasing high quality metal releases dedicated to their love for the horror genre....now, they hope to show a different side and vibe with the inception of Dead Beat Media!

We hope to be able to release some very high quality horror and cult film influenced soundtrack and experimental CDs by the most talented and enthusiastic musicians we can find. This, like Razorback, is a pure labor of love! The releases will be limited edition and we'd like each one to be something special that collectors and fans can really cherish owning and listenting to over and over again.

We hope horror fans AND fans of creepy and bizarre music in general will enjoy what we plan to release, and also hope that fans who have enjoyed the gory metal sounds Razorback has been releasing in the past decade will be interested as well.
